Easter Sunday 

He must rise from the dead.
 

It was very early on the first day of the week and still dark, when Mary of Magdala came to the tomb. She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb and came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved. ‘They have taken the Lord out of the tomb’ she said ‘and we don’t know where they have put him.’

So Peter set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb. They ran together, but the other disciple, running faster than Peter, reached the tomb first; he bent down and saw the linen cloths lying on the ground, but did not go in. Simon Peter who was following now came up, went right into the tomb, saw the linen cloths on the ground, and also the cloth that had been over his head; this was not with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and he believed. Till this moment they had failed to understand the teaching of scripture, that he must rise from the dead. John 20:1-9

Easter Monday 

Tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee: they will see me there.

Easter Tuesday 

'I have seen the Lord and he has spoken to me.’

Easter Wednesday 

They recognised him at the breaking of bread.

Easter Thursday 

It is written that the Christ would suffer and on the third day rise from the dead.

Easter Friday 

Jesus stepped forward, took the bread and gave it to them, and the same with the fish.

Easter Saturday 

Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News.

Divine Mercy Sunday

Eight days later, Jesus came again and stood among them. 

Monday of the Second Week of Eastertide

They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to proclaim the word of God boldly.

Tuesday of the Second Week of Eastertide

The whole group of believers was united, heart and soul.

Wednesday of the Second Week of Eastertide

The men you imprisoned are in the Temple, preaching to the people.

We are witnesses to all this, we and the Holy Spirit.

They were glad to have had the honour of suffering humiliation for the sake of the name.

Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News.

Third Sunday of Easter

They recognised him at the breaking of bread.

Monday of the Third Week of Eastertide

They could not get the better of Stephen because the Spirit prompted what he said.

They went from place to place, preaching the Good News.

The churches grew and were filled with the consolation of the Holy Spirit.

Fourth Sunday of Easter - Good Shepherd Sunday 

I am the gate of the sheepfold.

The good shepherd is one who lays down his life for his sheep.

They started preaching to the Greeks, proclaiming the Lord Jesus.

God has raised up one of David's descendants, Jesus, as Saviour. 

 

Friday of the Fourth Week of Eastertide

God has fulfilled his promise by raising Jesus from the dead. 

Sixth Sunday of Easter

I shall ask the Father and he will give you another Advocate.

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘If you love me you will keep my commandments.

I shall ask the Father,

and he will give you another Advocate

to be with you for ever,

that Spirit of truth

whom the world can never receive

since it neither sees nor knows him;

but you know him,

because he is with you, he is in you.

I will not leave you orphans;

I will come back to you.

In a short time the world will no longer see me;

but you will see me,

because I live and you will live.

On that day you will understand that I am in my Father

and you in me and I in you.

Anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them

will be one who loves me;

and anybody who loves me will be loved by my Father,

and I shall love him and show myself to him.’ John 14:15-21
